Who is Shaykh Nour Kabbani?

Shaykh Nour Kabbani was born in Beirut, Lebanon, where he was raised by his distinguished parents, the late As-Sayyid Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani and Hajjah Naziha Adil Kabbani, respective former deputy and eldest daughter of the late As-Sayyid Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Adil, founder of the Naqshbandi-Haqqani Sufi Order. He is also a descendant of Mawlana Jalaluddin Rumi and Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani.

Education & Training

From the tender age of seven, Shaykh Nour immersed himself in Islamic Studies under the tutelage of his grandfather, Shaykh Nazim, delving into the disciplines of Fiqh, `Aqida, and Akhlaq. His father, Shaykh Hisham, further enriched his education, making him proficient in Tafsir al-Qur’an and Tafsir al-Hadith. His fluency in Arabic, Turkish, and English, have enabled him to reach broad audiences across the globe.

Shaykh Nour acquired his M.D. in Internal Medicine at the University of Marmara in Istanbul, and later completed his residency at Columbia University in New York. In addition to his medical career, Shaykh Nour remained deeply devoted to the ‘medicine of the heart’, dedicating several months each year to intensive Islamic Studies in Cyprus under Shaykh Nazim’s guidance, who authorized him to deliver khutbahs (sermons), lectures, and lead dhikr (spiritual meditation). Shaykh Nour went on to spend nearly a decade under the tutelage and direct mentorship of Shaykh Hisham at the Institute of Spiritual and Cultural Advancement, where he deepened his training in Sufi teachings and community guidance. In 2018, Shaykh Hisham formally appointed and authorized Shaykh Nour to represent and teach the Naqshbandi Sufi Way.

Shaykh Nour reflects the nurturing wisdom of his illustrious teachers, whose efforts revitalized the faith of millions of Muslims around the world. Due to his unique life experience and noble lineage, Western audiences in particular resonate with his spiritually uplifting advice and jovial demeanor. He has addressed communities across the US and Canada, as well as Europe, Australia, Africa and Southeast Asia. 

Shaykh Nour Kabbani’s life and work embody the core principles of Sufi teachings, emphasizing spiritual enlightenment, ethical conduct, and the universal values of love and compassion. Under the authority and permission of his late father, his global outreach continues to spread the teachings of his forefathers, inspiring and guiding individuals on the path of spiritual growth and understanding.
